William Mitchell (Billy) Womack passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by his mother and daughter, Ally. He was born April 27, 1966, to Clyde Edward Womack and Elsa Bruegmann Louis at Harris Hospital, Fort Worth.
Billy grew up in Fort Worth, attending Atwood McDonald Elementary School, Handley Middle School, and graduating from Eastern Hills High School. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington.
In high school, he had many friends and enjoyed playing football and baseball. He also enjoyed playing softball as a young man after high school at Softball World.
Billy was a family man and enjoyed his children, who loved him. He married Lisa Rhom Jeffus in 1998 and immediately became a father of three children, Brittany, Clayton, and Courtney. According to Courtney, they “hit the jackpot” with Billy Womack. He did dad-things like helping with homework, coaching a soccer team, and playing basketball in the driveway. Brittany remembers that he saw that their needs were always met. He believed a parent could say, “I’m sorry” too.
Billy and Lisa had two children. Allyson in 1999 and Olivia in 2010. They enjoyed going to vintage shops and eating Billy’s good cooking. Ally called Billy “the Best Dad” a girl could ever ask for, and she will continue to make him proud by showing love and generosity. Olivia remembers cutting up with her dad and loves that Billy passed along his passion for music. Olivia says that she is “so proud” to be his daughter.
He loved to eat hot dogs and watch the Texas Rangers. Otherwise known as “Puffy” by his grandchildren. He loved to tell them outrageous stories and make them giggle.
Billy spent more than 14 years with cancer and has been recognized by all as the “strongest” person they know. He continued to work throughout his battle with cancer while continuing to be a great dad.
He enjoyed his Bible Study group and attending church. His favorite shows were Top Gun: Maverick and The Chosen.
Surviving Billy are his parents: Clyde and Kathy Womack and Elsa Louis; his brother Chris Womack and his wife Jina; his sisters Whitney Womack and Missy Williams (husband David); Billy’s children Allyson and Olivia Womack, Clayton Jeffus, Brittany Mauldin, (husband Keifer) and Courtney Josey (husband Garrett); his grandchildren Audrey Hamilton, Rhett and Wyatt Mauldin, Elle, Weston, and Gemma Josey; his nieces Kennedy Womack, Sophia and Ellie Williams; cousins Patti Womack-Lee and Paula Maziarz of Austin.
