William “Bill” Horne passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in the presence of his wife and son and surrounded by the love of a large family caring for and thinking of him in his final days.

Bill was born May 2,1950 in Denison, Texas to Lawrence and Dorothy Horne. He lived in and around the north Texas area his entire life, settling in Granbury in his later years. Bill earned his degree from Texas Christian University, which paved the way to a multi-decade career in telecommunications in both the private and public sectors.

The bulk of Bill’s work focused on the development, maintenance, and improvement of the enhanced 911 emergency system, which was created in 1988. Bill took great pride in his work and found meaning in helping to ensure the reliability of essential infrastructure that members of the community counted on in moments of crisis. Bill’s commitment to community continued in retirement, during which he managed a program through his church that collected and distributed food donations to those in need.

Bill had great pride in and abiding love for family. That love was often demonstrated through acts of service. He could always be relied on to “show up and do the work,” whatever the situation and needs of those in his orbit. Bill also took great joy in family gatherings. His home was the site of many such events over the years. Bill loved to document these moments of togetherness in photos, which he carefully curated and archived to enjoy himself and share with others.

Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pam; children, Bowen, Jeffrey, and Seth; and grandchildren, Jaxson and Evelyn. He is also survived by his sister, Laurie Growald; his brother, Howard Horne; and a large extended family he loved very much.
