Trey Tucker

Fred Lewis Tucker III, 65, know since childhood as Trey, passed away amongst family on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Memorial Service: 10:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1800 W. Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.  A reception celebrating Trey’s life will follow from 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ridglea Country Club, 3700 Bernie Anderson Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76116.

Trey was born June 10, 1961, in Arlington, Texas. He was a 1979 graduate of Lamar High School in Arlington and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University.

While at Texas State, Trey played linebacker under legendary Coach Jim Wacker and was a member of the 1981 and 1982 NCAA Division II National Championship football teams. Coach Wacker once said Trey wasn’t the biggest guy on the team, but he played with the biggest heart. It was a fitting description of the way Trey approached not only football, but life.

An athlete throughout his life, Trey loved being outdoors. Whether he was playing golf, fishing or spending time on his boat at Possum Kingdom Lake, he was happiest when he could be outside enjoying life with the people he loved.

At 26, Trey opened his first dry cleaning business. Through hard work, determination and a genuine commitment to the people he served, he grew that business to five locations. For nearly 40 years, Trey took enormous pride in taking care of his customers. Many of them became much more than customers—they became lifelong friends. Trey worked hard, but he never lost sight of the people who made the work meaningful.

Above everything else, Trey was a loving and devoted husband and a proud dad. As a father to two daughters, Trey was the ultimate “girl dad.” When Molly and Kate were young, he coached their soccer teams and quickly became a favorite not only of his own girls, but of all the girls he coached. He encouraged them, protected them, made them laugh and was always in their corner.

As his daughters grew older, Trey never stopped being their biggest fan. He didn’t want to miss a game, an event, a milestone or any moment that mattered to them. He showed up—always. He was the kind of dad who made his girls feel loved, supported and incredibly proud to call him their dad.

Trey lived life with enthusiasm. He worked hard, played hard, loved deeply and never took himself too seriously. Whether he was telling a joke, chasing his next adventure, cheering on his daughters, spending time on the lake or simply enjoying a beer with friends, Trey had a way of making people feel like they were exactly where they were supposed to be.

The big heart Coach Wacker saw in Trey more than 40 years ago never changed. It was the heart of a husband, father, son, brother, friend, coach and businessman who gave so much of himself to the people around him. Trey leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless stories and a whole lot of laughter. He will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

Survivors: Wife, Shauna Tucker; daughters, Molly Tucker and Kate Tucker; mother, Dixie Tucker; sisters, Tracy McAnear and her husband, Wesley, and Tricia Tucker; brother-in-law, Gene Adelson and his wife, Danette; sister-in-law, Amy Conders and her husband, Andrew; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
