Shelly Rachel Lewis, 84, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Shelly was born in Abilene, Texas, to Wilford and Addie Grace Lewis. Her family later moved to White Settlement, where she attended Brewer High School and met J.C. Del Rio. They married in 1959 and welcomed their son, J.C. Jr. (Jake). In 1962, the family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where daughters Delina and Delisa were born.
After returning to Texas, Shelly married Denny Stahl, and they welcomed her youngest son, Jerry (Chad). Life took her between Texas and Arizona several times before she eventually made Fort Worth her home. She worked at Kmart in Lake Worth and later at Jack Williams Chevrolet. In 1992, she married Dale Hedgpeth, with whom she shared many special memories and adventures.
Shelly enjoyed life and the experiences that came with it. She loved square dancing, motorcycle trips, memorable cruises, and cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame football teams. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and she attended Lakeside Church of God in Lakeside and Sanctuary of Praise in White Settlement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Addie Grace Lewis; brothers, Darrell and Gary Lewis; brother-in-law, Steve Martin; and husbands, J.C. Del Rio and Dale Hedgpeth.
Shelly is survived by her sister, Geneane Martin; sister-in-law, Sandy Lewis; her children, Jake Del Rio and husband Terry, Delina Taylor and husband Dwayne, Delisa Mehl, and Jerry Chad Stahl and wife Brandi; as well as several loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Shelly's life was filled with family, faith, adventure, and memories made along the way. While her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared and the memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
