It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rolande E. “Lola” Young, of Westworth Village, Texas who passed away peacefully on 15 June 2026 at the age of 93.
Born in Gouy-le-Catelet, France to Alfred and Marie Sauvet, Lola’s life was defined by her Catholic faith, immense resilience, courage, and devotion to family. In the early 1950s, she fell in love with an American airman, James Truman Lollis. The couple moved to the United States in 1953 to start their life together. Tragically, after eight years together, ‘Jimmy’ passed away suddenly in 1958, leaving Lola to raise their three young children.
Showcasing her characteristic strength, she moved between South Carolina and France to stay close to family while raising her children. She eventually returned permanently to the United States, proudly obtaining her U.S. citizenship. It was here that she met her lifelong partner, Robert 'Bob' Young. Lola and Bob shared 39 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life filled with deep love and companionship, travel and family, before Bob passed away following a short illness.
Lola was a devoted volunteer with the White Settlement Senior Citizens Center for 30 years, where she organized their food bank and produce days like the true task master she was. This ‘job’ was one she was deeply committed to, until COVID kept everyone at home. She was also a member of the Westworth Village Citizens on Patrol and enjoyed baking for the police officers each week.
She is survived by her 3 children, Evelyne Kirschner, David (Lisa) Young and Bernadette (Rico) Young; her 13 grandchildren (both biological and through friendship), Alexander Kirschner, Melisty (Mark) Huff, Christine Sturgess, John Sturgess, Brandon (Dorian) Wright, Kristin (Barry) Karrh, Stephanie (Chris) Balster, Kate (Matt) Huff, James (Katie) Lollis, Robert (Marisa) Young, John Yost, Alaina and Tanner Jordan; her sister, Nicole (Claude) Bruyer; and 20 beloved great-grandchildren. She also has many beloved nieces and nephews in France. She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, John Lollis; and daughter, Viviane Lollis; as well as 4 brothers and sisters and both parents.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her wonderful caretakers and nurses, Lucy, Christina, Rhonda, Mary, Tish and Linda, who provided her with immense love, comfort, and companionship over the last two and a half years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Thompson Harveson and Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth, TX. A private family burial will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
