Robert Scott (Bob) MacGorman passed away on March 26, 2026, at his home. He was 73.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Thompson Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd., Fort Worth 76114.
Interment: 12:30 p.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth 76134.
Bob was born on August 30, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas, to John William MacGorman and Barbara Ruth MacGorman. He was a caring and dependable presence to those around him, always willing to help others and always putting family first.
He grew up in Fort Worth in a family of six kids. At Southwest High School, he played football as a lineman on both offense and defense. He was a team captain and was selected second string Texas All-State. During high school, he spent a year living in Lebanon and was evacuated to Rome during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. On the way home, he traveled through much of Europe with two of his brothers. He later spent time traveling in Japan.
Bob was a retired switchman for BNSF Railroad, a job that reflected the qualities people knew him for best: reliability, hard work, and quiet strength. But those closest to him knew that his real gift was the way he cared for others. He was a true caretaker, a steady force in difficult times no matter whose burden it was. He cared devotedly for his wife and elderly parents. Time and again, he also stepped in to support other family members in meaningful and lasting ways, always giving of himself without hesitation and never asking for recognition in return.
He loved music in all its forms, from Jimi Hendrix to classical, and had played the piano since he was young. Music remained one of the great pleasures of his life. He also loved his dogs and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed the outdoors and felt most at home at Eagle Mountain Lake, where he lived for 47 years.
Among his daughters’ most cherished memories are the walks they shared with him around the block, picking wildflowers and feeding the ducks at the lake. Those simple moments reflected the kind of father he was: caring, present, and able to turn ordinary days into lasting memories.
Bob was most proud of his two daughters and of the beautiful lives they created for their children. He brought joy to any occasion with his sense of humor and was deeply loved for the kindness, loyalty, and generosity he showed his family. He will be remembered for his generosity and the steady devotion he showed the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Steve.
He is survived by his wife, Catherin MacGorman, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; his daughters, Ollie Trager (Trent) and Carrie MacGorman; his grandchildren, Ruth and Naiomi; his brothers, Don and John MacGorman; his sisters, Linda and Debbie MacGorman; and several nieces and nephews.
