Robert Stanley Filarowicz was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on January 31, 1940 and passed away October 16, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas.  He spent his childhood attending school and playing the position of pitcher for his grade school and for the Woodbridge High School high school baseball team. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and played baseball there as well. He completed his master’s degree in marketing at Mississippi State University.

Bob served as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1962 – 1965 and was based at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. He moved to Fort Worth in 1967 to work for General Dynamics which became Lockheed Martin. He worked in Engineering where he managed projects and budgets for the department. He also was involved in recruiting college students to the company. He retired in 2011 after 43 years of service.

Bob met the love of his life, Mary Jane Hannon, at a Newman Club social in 1968. He was immediately smitten because he asked her to go to Six Flags the next weekend. From their first meeting he continued to drive from Fort Worth to Dallas for two years. Bob proposed and they were married at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas in 1970. After the wedding, they moved to Fort Worth and shortly after started and raised their family there.

Bob and Mary Jane had three children: Robert Jr “Bobby” was born in July 1971, Jane in 1972, and John in 1979. Bob was so very proud of each of his children and showed unconditional love and support to each of them until his last breath.

Bob passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 85-years old. We know he was welcomed with open arms by his Lord and Savior, Jesus. Bob led a dedicated and faithful life or prayer and love for the Lord.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Stanley J. Filarowicz, and his mother, Julia “Jay” D. Filarowicz. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his eldest son and wife, Bobby and Theresa, his youngest son and wife and his beloved granddaughters, John and Sara, Grace and Claire, and his daughter, Jane. In addition, he is survived by his brother and wife, Don and Peggy, and their children, Meg who is married to Leon and their two sons, and Mark and his wife, Scottie.

Throughout the years and with Bob’s passing everyone keeps saying that he was one of the kindest men they have ever known. Bob led his life with faith, unconditional love, and kindness. He showed God’s grace and mercy to so many who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 6150 Pershing Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.   A reception will follow in the parish hall.  

If desired, you may join the family for a Graveside Service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
