Born on December 3, 1935, in Graham, Texas, Robbie was proud of her roots and cherished her hometown community throughout her life. A graduate of Graham High School, she was a cheerleader, crowned Miss Graham, and formed lifelong friendships that remained close to her heart.
She went on to attend the University of North Texas on a violin scholarship — a reflection of her many talents. It was there that she met the love of her life, John Ratliff. Their love was immediate, deep, and enduring. They were married for 52 years, and Robbie forever loved John until the very day she passed. People who knew them could see their connection and often said, “Everyone should be so blessed to have a marriage like theirs.”
She deeply loved being a wife and found true purpose in supporting her husband. She embraced the unpredictability of life with strength and a sense of adventure. For her, it was always about the journey—and she walked every step hand in hand with love and unwavering belief in the future they were building together.
She was a devoted mother to her four children and a proud, joy-filled grandmother to her cherished grandson, John Patrick. Being a mom and a grandmother was the role she loved most in life, and she poured her heart into her family every single day.
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, shaping her into the deeply loving, caring, and generous woman we all knew. She lived her faith quietly but powerfully—through compassion, service, and grace.
She especially loved the Christmas season, which brought out her joy and warmth in full. Whether decorating her home with an abundance of Christmas lights, playing Christmas music, baking with family, or celebrating the birth of Christ, Christmas was a time she cherished and made magical for all who gathered around her.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and deep, abiding love. She gave her heart freely to those around her and found joy in the simple things. Though words can’t capture everything she was to us, we will carry her memory in every song, every smile, every light-filled holiday, and every act of love. She will be forever missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Robbie was preceded in death by her dear husband of 52 years, John Wesley Ratliff; her precious daughter, Robin Ratliff Shivers and her husband, Robert (Bud) Allan Shivers, Jr.; and parents, Mac Browning and Beula Harlan. She is survived by her children, John Wesley Ratliff Jr., Lisa Karen Ratliff and Kimberly Ratliff Truman; grandchild, John Patrick Truman and his wife, Melis; and special friend, Theresa Anderson.
The family wishes to thank many of the home care and home health givers to their mom especially Christina Smith, Brittany Nixon and Lisa Huff, LVN.
