Robert W. Bosworth, Jr. was born to Robert and Dorothy Bosworth in Belleville, Illinois on September 15, 1957. He graduated from Belleville East High School in 1975.
He had an early interest in the church growing up, as well as a love for music. Fortunately, he was able to enjoy both. Bob graduated with a degree in music from Southern Illinois University and continued on to seminary at Nashotah House in Wisconsin, where he graduated in 1985. He was ordained a deacon, and subsequently a priest, by the end of that same year.
Affectionately known as “Father Bob”, he served in many churches, including All Saints Episcopal Church (Fort Worth, Texas); Christ Church Episcopal (Dallas, Texas); and Church of the Ascension (Frankfort, Kentucky). He loved teaching numerous age groups, from his days at All Saints School in Fort Worth to seminary students in Guadalajara, Mexico.
He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, singing, playing games with friends and family, and was a fun-loving person all his life. He also loved to travel and was able to explore many countries before his health declined. He also loved watching old movies, baking, and cooking.
When increasing health problems forced him to retire from full-time church work, he decided to get a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Bosworth then volunteered as a counselor at Catholic Charities before venturing into a private office, where he started a non-profit named La Anta Charities. He was so joyful in being able to give to various non-profit agencies out of his counseling business, which was located at St. John's Anglican Church, Fort Worth, Texas.
He was a member of the SSC Society of the Holy Cross and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem and, in his earlier days, was active in the Shriners. He also learned some artistic work he could do despite his disabilities, such as needlepoint and making photo books for his grandchildren. He was truly a survivor and never quit.
Father Bob is survived by his wife, Bettie; their son, Robert Bosworth III and his wife, Maris; two granddaughters, Claire and Harper; his brother, Tim Bosworth; nieces, Marcie Mazzetti and Katie Bosworth; a cousin, Jan Johnson; and many nieces and nephews through Bettie's family, and Diane Scaling Pegg, Bettie's mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations to La Anta Charities are gratefully accepted and may be mailed to La Anta Charities, c/o St. John’s Anglican Church, 2401 College Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76110.
The family wishes to thank all of you who have been so supportive throughout their lives by your love and prayers.
