With heavy hearts and unwavering faith, we announce the passing of our beloved Rebecca, who entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 5, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with heart and lung failure.

Rebecca was a beautiful, loving gift from God to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose life was defined by her love for others, her unwavering faith, and her willingness to serve and care for those around her.

Rebecca shared 40 beautiful years of marriage with the love of her life, Kamon, whom she met at a young age while working at Winn-Dixie. It was love at first sight. Through four decades of life’s joys, hardships, and trials, they remained devoted to one another. Kamon lovingly called Rebecca his “Everlasting Love.” Their marriage was a testament to the kind of love that perseveres through every season of life.

Rebecca had a pure heart. She loved unconditionally and fiercely, with her whole heart. She was genuine, authentic, and always fully present with the people she loved. She had a rare ability to meet people exactly where they were, without judgment, and to understand the person behind the circumstances. Because of that, she was someone people could trust for honest, loving, and wise advice.

She was also a warrior. Her family affectionately called her the “Energizer Bunny” because no matter how many times life knocked her down, she found the strength to get back up. Even in the face of difficult diagnoses, illness, and pain, she continued to praise God for the gift of another day. Her courage and trust in God’s love and provision inspired everyone around her.

Rebecca was deeply passionate about life. She loved without holding anything back. She worked hard, willingly did difficult things, and found joy in every stage of life. She loved baking cakes, sewing, crocheting, working in her flower gardens, tending to her fish, shopping, antiques, and sharing beautiful experiences with the people she loved. She had a special appreciation for the finer things in life, but her greatest treasures were always the people around her.

She was especially devoted to her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She poured herself into being their Nene keeping them when they were young. She created a place where they always felt loved, safe, and important. The memories she made with them will remain a precious part of their lives forever.

Rebecca’s faith was the foundation of everything she was. She faithfully read her Bible and spent countless hours in Bible studies. She was especially passionate about Bible journaling, which became a beautiful reflection of her relationship with God. Her Bible was filled with prayers, notes, Scripture, thoughts, and reflections accumulated over years of walking with the Lord. She didn’t simply read God’s Word—she lived it. Her life was a reflection of Christ-like love, compassion, service, forgiveness, and faith.

Her family will forever remember her bright smile that made her eyes sparkle, her contagious laughter, and, of course, her incredible hugs. She had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed. She celebrated the lives of those around her, supported their dreams and adventures, lifted them up in prayer, and genuinely wanted to know what was happening in their lives. Her heartfelt letters and words of encouragement were treasured by those who received them.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her father, Paul Gaydos, and her stepfather, Roy Hurst.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Kamon Karlik; their son, Justin Karlik, and his wife, Lacey; her beloved grandchildren, Gavin, Makayla Karlik and Brianna Smoot; her mother, Marilyn Hurst; her sisters, Deana Gaydos, and her daughter, Candace House and her husband Jack; Natalie Dean, her husband, Brian, and son, Cole Menasco and his wife Samantha; her brother, Mike Shires, and his wife, Ann; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Rebecca’s life, deeds, ministry, and joy through every stage of life were an inspiration. She changed the world of those who knew her in ways no one else could. Her love, tenacity, wisdom, compassion, and faith will continue to live through every person she touched.

Her family finds comfort knowing that the bright light that was Rebecca has not truly gone out—it is simply shining somewhere beyond what we can see. We know that one day, we will be reunited with our beautiful Rebecca again.

Until then, we will carry her with us—in our gardens, in our family traditions, in the pages of our Bibles, in the memories of her grandchildren, in the sound of her laughter, and most of all, in the way we love others.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth, Texas 76114. Interment will follow immediately at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76134.
