Pastor Gerardo Lucena
"A life defined by faith, love, generosity, knowledge, and service to others.“
Pastor Gerardo Lucena, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, civil engineer, professor, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.
A man of unwavering faith, integrity, and generosity, Pastor lived a life dedicated to serving others. He believed deeply in the power of education, the importance of family, and the responsibility to use one's gifts to improve the lives of those around them.
His kindness, wisdom, and compassion touched countless people and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
For 63 years, he shared a loving and devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy. Together they built a family rooted in faith, perseverance, education, and unconditional love.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife; his children, Nancy Josefina, Gerardo Joel, and Dulce María; his grandchildren, Sabrina, Samanta, and Marla; Ana Mercedes, Gerardo Gabriel, and Gerardo Andres; Maria Alejandra, and Victoria; and his great-grandchildren, Felix Owens and Hugo Pascal.
Pastor earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and later pursued a Master of Public Health at the University of Michigan. Throughout his distinguished career, he contributed to major infrastructure and public health projects in Venezuela, including water treatment systems and the development of the Caracas Metro.
As a university professor, he dedicated himself to mentoring and educating future generations of engineers, a role he considered among his greatest privileges.
Beyond his professional achievements, Pastor was a lifelong learner who loved traveling, discovering new cultures, and sharing knowledge with others.
Yet his greatest joy was always his family. He was a source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love whose example will continue to guide those he cherished most.
His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the students he taught, the communities he helped build, and the many lives he touched through his generosity and faith.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6
Forever loved, forever remembered, forever in our hearts.
