N. Michael Kensel, 85, passed away July 23, 2026. 

Visitation: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76114. 

Requiem: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at All Saints' Church Crestline, 5001 Crestline Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.   Private Interment.

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorial in lieu of flowers may be given to the Humane Society of North Texas ( Link here ).

Born November 22, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas to N. R. Kensel and Alva Eloise George Kensel, he graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1959, Texas Christian University in 1963 with a BA in political science and Southern Methodist University with LLB degree in 1966. As a life-long resident of Fort Worth, healways lived on the west side and mostly within the "sound of the bricks".

His career commenced in Contract Administration at the Fort Worth Division of General Dynamics, then Dushman, Greenspan, Kensel & Friedman, followed by Evans & Kensel and Ferrara & Kensel followed by many years of solo practice for a total of 52 years in practice. Throughout his career, he assisted with extensive pro-bono work, which included writing more than 300 wills, waiving fees for hospice patients cared for at St. Joseph Hospice which later became Commnity Hospice where he additionally served for many years on the Ethics Committee.

A member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Fort Worth since 1962, he served actively in Parish and Diocesan work as Parish Chancellor, Parish Representative to the Diocesan Convention, and as a member of the Vestry. He served as Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth for the first three Bishops of the Diocese, Board Member and Board Chairman of the Episcopal Credit Union of the Diocese of Dallas and Chancellor Emeritus of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth.
