Melvin Lee Burdorf, 88, corporate officer and minority owner of Ed A. Wilson, Inc., passed away October 14, 2024.
Memorial Service:
11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests contributions in memory of Mel to the Alzheimer's Association of Tarrant County or the First Street Mission at First United Methodist Church.
MLB - Melvin Lee Burdorf, born in Newton, Kansas on October 21, 1935.
PHS - Grew up on a farm near Peabody, Kansas and went to high school in Peabody. He ran track and played trumpet in the band.
KSU - Received a BS in Civil Engineering and a MS in Structural Engineering. Loved being a "Wildcat".
DTD - His fraternity was Delta Tau Delta and enjoyed the friendship of many of his "brothers" even in later years on trips with wives.
CMU - He me Charlene Mae Unruh in Wichita, Kansas.
FMC - They met and married at First Methodist Church on July 29, 1961.
KSU/Munich University - After graduating in June, 1953 they were in Europe for 6 weeks with fellow students.
GD/FW - Mel went to work at General Dynamics in Fort Worth.
FUMC/FW - He and Charlene joined First United Methodist Church in 1964 and also became a part of the Loyalty Sunday School Class.
DAD - Randall Lee (Melanie) was born in 1964, Brian Charles (Holly) was born in 1967, and Curt Andrew in 1968.
OPA - His grandchildren, Sawyer, Milo and Grace.
SIL - Sister-in-law, Janice Besson.
UNC - Uncle and great uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
DAD - For problems or car situation it was always Dad.
EAW - In the early 1970's, he became a minority partner in the construction company, Ed. A. Wilson, Inc.
UKE - In retirement he learned to play the ukulele at the White Settlement Senior Center.
TT - Trinity Terrace became home when the River Tower was complete in 2017.
RIP - Mel passed away on October 14, 2024.
