Margareta J. Miles of Fort Worth, Texas, left the earth for eternal rest on September 14, 2025.
Margareta was born in Koblenz, Germany, in 1937. As a child, she lived through the challenges of World War II, an experience that instilled in her a lifelong resilience and determination. In 1967, after meeting her husband, John Miles, she made the United States her home. A few years later, she proudly became a U.S. citizen on Independence Day, a milestone that held deep meaning for her and reflected the pride she felt in embracing her new country.
In the last forty years, she faced significant health challenges, yet she met them with strength, adaptability, and courage—in true “Marga fashion.”
Margareta was adventurous, intelligent, stylish, and creative. She had a gift for cooking, decorating, and crafting. Her unmistakable character left an impression on those who knew her. She was also known for her radiant smile, her flirtatious spirit, and her deep love of animals—especially her beloved pets who brought her comfort and joy.
In her final weeks, Margareta reconnected with loved ones she had not seen in many years. During that time, her smile seemed more genuine, and those moments of peace and joy will be remembered as a lasting gift.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Miles.
Margareta is survived by her daughter, Lisa Keye (husband Roger Keye); her sons, David Miles (wife Sarah Miles), Joshua Miles, and Stefan Schmidtz; and her grandchildren, Cameron Bentley, Gunnar Keye, Rainer Schmidtz, Anna Schmidtz, and Peter Schmidz, as well as extended family and friends.
A heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and loved ones who offered support, kindness, and love during this time.
