Lenhard Gene Janzen, age 91, passed away at his home in Fort Worth on December 22, 2025.
Lenhard was born on the family farm outside of Canada, Kansas, to Albert Janzen and Ethel Hodgson Janzen, on April, 24, 1934. He spent his early years in Kansas before beginning his US Navy career.
He was married to Jo Ann Janzen, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. After retirement he loved to travel with Jo Ann in their RV across the country. After traveling they settled in Yuma, Az for 12 years. Then later moved back to Fort Worth, Texas.
Lenhard is survived by his children: Mike Janzen and his wife, Carolyn; Dale Janzen; Daryl Janzen and his wife, Leann; Debbie Pulcher and her husband, Harold; he was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy; and he is survived by his sister, Dorothy Ensz.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Erma Meisinger, in addition to his parents.
Lenhard attended Tampa High School before proudly serving in the United States Navy. He served for 20 years and retired with the rank of Operations Specialist First Class (OS1), E-7. During his military career, he served in the Korean War, Vietnam War and aboard multiple naval ships. He was awarded the Naval Achievement Medal and received a certificate of recognition signed by Richard Nixon, honoring his service to his country.
Following his military retirement, Lenhard continued his career of service by working for the United States Postal Service for 20 years before retiring.
Lenhard will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, kind demeanor, and the genuine warmth he showed to everyone he met.
