It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of John David Schwinger who entered into eternal rest surrounded by the love of his family on May 21, 2026.
John was born on Sunday, May 13th, 1934, in Marion, Ohio. He proudly served his country as a Medic in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and was honorably discharged for his faithful service.
He was a devout and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, strength, and faith touched everyone who knew him. Above all else, he cherished his family and devoted his life to caring for those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ellen Schwinger; his daughter, Christi Schwinger-Garcia; his cherished granddaughters, Elena Garcia and Emma Hendrix; and his grandson-in-law, Cole Hendrix. He is also survived by his sisters, Annette Plhak and her husband, Roy Plhak, and Elizabeth Frantz, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Susan Schwinger; his parents, Gladys and John Schwinger; and his siblings, Emily and Paul Schwinger.
Though deeply missed, his family finds peace in knowing he is now in Heaven reunited with those who went before him. His legacy of love, faith, devotion, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
