John Patrick Chiafos passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Visitation and Service: Family and friends are invited to gather at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026 for a Celebration of John’s Life at Thompson Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76114.
John was born April 9, 1978, in Perry, Iowa, and was a graduate of Western Hills High School.
John had a deep love for the outdoors and an especially tender heart for animals. He adored his two beloved dogs, Teddy and Bucee, who brought him great joy and companionship. He loved the Colorado mountains and the sandy beaches where he could swim and enjoy the sunshine with family and loved ones. He enjoyed playing basketball and was an avid sports fan who took great joy in traveling to different cities with his wife, Latae. Together, they visited places such as Chicago, Seattle, New York, California, New Jersey, and Colorado, creating cherished memories while visiting the homes of some of his favorite sports teams. These travels allowed him to combine his love of sports with his love of adventure and, most importantly, time spent with his beloved wife.
More than anything, John enjoyed the people in his life and the simple things that brought him happiness. John shared a close relationship with his brothers Troy and James, spending time together grilling and enjoying each other’s company. John will be remembered by those who knew him for his loving heart, his humble spirit, his selflessness, and his calm and patient demeanor.
Survivors: wife, Latae Mendoza; brothers, Troy Chiafos and his wife Billy Jo Chiafos, and James Chiafos; daughter, Abigail Marich; mother-in-law, Nora Carrasco; sister-in-law, Jasmine Mendoza; brother-in-law, Charlie Mendoza; nieces and nephews; extended family; and an abundance of friends.
