John William Brown

John Brown, cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 92, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 6, 1933, in Falkville, Alabama, to Early Plumer and Lucille Brown.

John attended Falkville High School, where he played football and graduated in 1951. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Air Force, marking the beginning of 23-year military career.

The life that John and Margaret built together stands as a testament to their deep commitment and love. Their marriage was not only a source of joy and strength for both of them but also served as an inspiring example of devotion for their children. Through the years, they nurtured an environment of warmth, support, and unwavering loyalty, creating a foundation that their family continues to cherish and impart. Above all achievements, their partnership and the family they raised remain their most treasured legacy.

During his time in the Air Force, John worked with the Department of Defense in Logistics and Property Disposal. His service took him and his family to many states across the country. Notably, in 1968, the family drove from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, to Anchorage, Alaska (Elmendorf AFB), and later returned to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1973 in a new station wagon. John retired from the Air Force in 1975. While working, he pursued further education and earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

John then embarked on a second career in the automotive wholesale industry with BMW of North America. In his later years, he worked as a Business Development Officer for ProBilling & Funding Service, a role he thoroughly enjoyed.

John was a man of many interests. He had a passion for maps and geography, enjoyed listening to classic country music, and loved watching football at all levels. He always looked forward to driving anywhere, embracing every opportunity for a good car trip.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; his eldest son, James Patrick; and his eldest daughter, Elizabeth Ann; and grandson, Adam Douglas. He is survived by son-in-law Frank Govednik; son Michael Brown and his wife Julie; daughter Mary Hermes and her husband Glenn; and son Mark Brown. John was deeply loved by his grandchildren: Tiffany Key and her husband James; Derek Govednik; Cobey Brown; Sidney Tran and her husband Tan; Mallory Hyatt; Brianna Hyatt; Olivia Govednik; Andrea Hyatt; and Cassidy Hyatt. He was also adored by his great-grandchildren: Taylor Salazar and his wife Daycee (Taylor Wayne), Zachary Collinsworth, Addison Collinsworth, Kaleb Key, and Noah Key.

Visitation begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas, 76114. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, 13517 Alta Vista Rd. Roanoke, Texas, 76262.   Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth.
