Born on January 13, 1951, in McKinney, Texas, to Orval E. and Estelle Spurgin, Janet lived a life defined by kindness, energy, and a deep, unwavering faith. She dedicated her life to serving others, especially through her passion for education and her commitment to her Catholic faith. Janet earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of North Texas. She began her career as a public school teacher before devoting 25 years to Catholic education as an administrator at Saint Andrew Catholic School and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. She also served her community through her involvement on the school boards of Saint Andrew Catholic School and Nolan Catholic High School. A devoted member of her church community, Janet served as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Andrew Catholic Church and Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church. She was actively involved in Bible studies and generously gave her time to support marriage preparation at Saint Bartholomew, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to others.
She found great joy in educating children, spending time with her family, baking for those she loved, cheering on the Texas Longhorns, and serving others in both big and small ways.
She is survived by her husband, Rudy Camarillo of Fort Worth; her son, Dr. Matthew Camarillo, and his wife, Lindsey Potter, of Houston, Texas; her daughter, Julie Taulton, and her husband, Stanley, of McKinney, Texas; her grandchildren, Ensley and Easton Camarillo, and Taylor and Kylie Taulton; and her sister, Mary Helen Pratt, and her husband, Steve, of Austin, Texas.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her dedication to her family and community, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of countless students and families.
