Gretchen Kay Pryor

Gretchen Kay Pryor, 58, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026.

Gretchen was an extraordinarily strong woman who faced more challenges in her lifetime than most people could ever imagine. She was sick for much of her life, but time and time again, she overcame obstacles that could have broken even the strongest of people. She kept going, kept fighting, and continued to live life in her own way.

Gretchen loved Fort Worth and was proud to call it home. She loved the life she built there and the people, places, and memories that became part of her story.

Above all else, Gretchen had an incredible love for animals. There was a tenderness in her heart for animals that was impossible to miss. She loved them deeply and believed they deserved kindness, compassion, and protection. Animals were more than pets to Gretchen. They were family, and her love for them was one of the most beautiful parts of who she was.

Gretchen was a woman with a strong personality and an even stronger will. She was not someone who could easily be told what to do, and she lived life according to her own rules. She was fiercely herself, and those who knew her best will remember her for exactly that.

Her greatest legacy is the family she leaves behind.

Gretchen is survived by her sons, Mark Anthony Pryor, Nicolas Edward Arteaga, and Sean Eliott Trevino; her daughters, Savanna Kay Arteaga and Heather Noel Trevino; her son-in-law, John Parker Howard; her grandchildren, Aiden Jude Reed, Ava Sophia Howard, and Landon Zane Trevino; her brother, Craig Pryor, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pryor; her sister, Rebecca Davis; and her brother, Curtis Paul Pryor.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Paul Schultz; Father, Samuel Ovis Pryor; and Stepfather, John Earl Wright

Though Gretchen’s life was not always easy, she gave her family something that cannot be measured: memories, stories, lessons, laughter, and a piece of herself that will continue through every generation that follows her.

She fought through illness. She endured difficult days. She overcame more than many people ever knew. And through it all, she remained Gretchen.

Her family will carry her memory forward, and every animal she loved will forever represent the enormous heart she had for those who could not speak for themselves.

Gretchen Kay Pryor was 58 years old when she left this world, but the love she gave and the lives she touched will continue long after her passing.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76114.
