Evelyn Virginia Hall Gunter passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the age of 102.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2026 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth with a reception immediately following the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Evelyn was born on April 19, 1924, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Letty Myrtle and Lester Morgan Hall. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1942 and continued her education at Texas Wesleyan College and Tarleton State College.

Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Jim Gunter. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and a love for Texas. They treasured time spent at their homes on Eagle Mountain Lake and in Port Aransas, creating countless memories with children, grandchildren, and friends.

Evelyn found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved long walks along the beach searching for seashells, watching the waves roll in, and enjoying the beauty of the Texas coast. She especially loved gathering her family together at the lake house or beach home, where laughter, stories, and treasured traditions were shared.

An avid traveler, Evelyn particularly enjoyed exploring the Texas Hill Country each spring when the bluebonnets painted the landscape in vibrant color. She enjoyed attending wine festivals, discovering new places, and spending time with those she loved most. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Griffin Gunter.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Susan Green and her husband, Jimmy; Elaine Gunter; Griffin Gunter; Steve Gunter; and Tony Gunter and his wife, Lisa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Courtney Love, Brandon Dodd, Shelby Dodd, Kristan Berkovsky, Kali Gunter-Melara, Steve Gunter, Sarah Gunter, Lauren Gunter, Brandi Davis, Ashlin Gentry and Dustin Ray; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Texas Parks and Wildlife in Evelyn's memory.
