Ellen was born on June 7, 1956, in McAllen, Texas, to Mary Eutha and Joe Wilford Barnett. She graduated from Denton High School in 1974 and earned her bachelor's degree from North Texas State University in 1978.
A Certified Public Accountant, Ellen enjoyed a successful career in accounting. In 1995, she and her husband, Craig, co-founded Craig Hamilton & Co., building a respected accounting firm together. Their professional partnership reflected the same dedication, trust, and commitment that defined their marriage of 48 years.
Ellen was a longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Fort Worth. She and Craig were also devoted supporters of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT), serving as its accountants in the organizations early years and generously volunteering their time and talents on various projects. Their contributions reflected a genuine commitment to the organization and its mission.
Ellen enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, working jigsaw puzzles, and challenging herself with word games. She also found great pleasure in caring for and spending time with her beloved dogs and donkeys.
Above all, Ellen's greatest joy was her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she treasured every opportunity to be with those she loved, especially her grandchildren. Whether gathered around the family table, enjoying a favorite activity, or simply spending time together, Ellen found happiness in life's everyday moments. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jane Barnett.
