Listen to Obituary

Walter “Buddy” Townsend passed peacefully on September 16, 2026.

The story begins in Fort Benning, GA on July 5, 1948, born to Walter “Bob” and Katherine Townsend.  As an army brat, he traveled extensively and called Louisiana home. Until he moved to Texas to attend Texas A&M University.

He and Sandy met on a blind date in March 1967 and married July 1970. As Buddy would say “They were married 12 wonderful years and 12 out of 56 isn’t bad.” They had three children: Amy, Matt and Jeff.

He worked as an electrical engineer at General Dynamics, which later changed to Lockheed Martin. In 2008, he retired to enjoy his favorite children (his dogs), hunting, traveling and Texas Aggie football.
