Brooke Harrison Shannon

Listen to Obituary

On July 12, 2026, Brooke Harrison Shannon, devoted wife and mother, shed this mortal coil in the presence of her family after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born on August 8, 1960, the only child of Ervin W. Harrison and Beebee Baker Harrison. Brooke was born in, and for the greater part of her life, lived in Fort Worth.

As child, she attended school at All Saints and eventually graduated from Arlington Heights, then on to TCU as an art major. She met her husband Jim Shannon in 1982, married him on May 11th, 1985, and embarked on a long, event filled life together, once she got used to the idea that she had become the newest member of Jim’s large family. She and Jim have two handsome sons, Liam and Evan.

Brooke loved travel, painting, photography, gardening, creating miniature houses, raising critters, and configuring highly complex LEGO products – in fact, she was curious about everything and when she found something that caught her interests pursued and tried to master it. Most importantly, though, she was a warm, loving and caring person who treated everyone she met as unique and valuable individuals in and of themselves.

She is survived by her husband, James Shannon; sons, Liam James and Evan Brookes; brothers and sisters in law and their respective spouses, Dennis and Debbie Shannon of Fort Worth, Ellen and Leon Dodd of Maryville, TN, Geoffrey and Jackie Shannon of Saginaw, Ruth and John Talvacchia of Newton, MA, and Mary Catherine Nickerson (nee Shannon) of Fort Worth; and many nieces and nephews and their children.  Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held for Brooke on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. (I know, I know, she rarely got out of bed before that time) at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76114.  Anyone who would like to attend will be more than welcome and share your thoughts about Brooke with the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to WestAid of Fort Worth. But we also ask that we lend a helping hand to others, pat someone on the back who needs reassurance, look at our children with the same awe and wonder as we did the day they came into our lives, or pick someone up who may have stumbled. Life is far too short to forget we are all part of the same family – warts and all.
