Anna Shirleta Woodrum Fisher, known to all who loved her as Shirley or “Meeko”, passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2026, at the age of 87. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family touched countless lives.
Shirley was born April 16, 1939, in Clementsville, Kentucky to Willis Irvin Woodrum and Rose Geneva Wethington Woodrum. Shirley’s family moved to Zionsville, Indiana where she graduated from Zionsville Community High School in 1958. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life, Walter Eugene “Gene” Fisher. The two were united in marriage on June 4, 1960, beginning a loving union that would serve as the foundation of their family. After moving several times for Gene’s career with General Dynamics, they eventually made their home in Fort Worth, Texas.
Shirley will be remembered most for the steadfast love and support she gave to her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a member of Saint Alice Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church as a devoted parishioner for 65 years.
A woman of deep faith and generous spirit, Shirley shared her gifts through many years of service to her church and community. She sang in the Holy Family choir, volunteered with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Mother and Unborn Baby Care, and faithfully supported the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Her life was a testament to compassion, service, and love for others.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Walter Eugene Fisher; her parents, Willis Irvin Woodrum and Rose Geneva Wethington Woodrum; her brothers, William Thomas Woodrum (Geri) and Edgar Ray Woodrum; and her sister, Margaret Loeta Woodrum Curry (Robert).
She is survived by her brothers, Everett Charles Woodrum (Connie) and Willice Eugene Woodrum (Dianne); her children, Lori Ann Fisher Gibler (Steve), Mark Kevin Fisher (Fr. Leo Joseph, CFR), and Joseph Scott Fisher (Melissa); her granddaughters, Elisabeth Paige Fisher May (Cody) and Peyton Alexandra Fisher; her great-granddaughter, Kimber Reese May; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The Fisher family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care Shirley received from the physicians, nurses, and certified nursing assistants of Texas Oncology and Journey Hospice. Their compassion, kindness, and dedication brought comfort and peace to both Shirley and her family during her final days.
Shirley’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
